    As Jim Brophy looks back on some of the most memorable experiences in his life, he can't help but think of years ago when, was an undergraduate at Loyola University, he lived and studied for a year in Rome.  With his natural affinity for languages, his desire to see the world outside his Chicago hometown and his love for a good challenge, it was the perfect opportunity.  And though it was a bit daunting to immerse himself in an unfamiliar culture, the experience left a lasting impression on Jim of the vital importance of listening and communication.

Words of Wisdom

    Jim's passion for languages and his desire to make an impact inspired him to earn his Master's degree and serve as a French professor for several years at a Midwestern college.  A popular teacher, Jim was known for making his classes fun and practical.  He always strove to impart to his students an ability to communicate effectively no matter what the situation.   Connecting with students and making a difference in their lives was truly rewarding to Jim.

A New Chapter

    After studying at Stanford, one trip to visit friends on the Orange County coast was all it took to convince Jim to move West.  That was more than 30 years ago, and he's called South Orange County home ever since.  Whether he's participating in community events, cooking up a new gourmet recipe or attending a concert at the Performing Arts Center, Jim truly makes the most of all life has to offer here.
